PRADA is an italian house of fashion founded in 1913 by Mario Prada. At the beginning it was a leathergoods shop - Fratelli Prada (eng. Prada Brothers), in Milan, Italy.
His daughter, Luisa Prada was Prada's successor and ran the company for almost 20 years. Her own daughter, Miuccia Prada, joined the company in 1970, eventually taking over for her mother in 1978.
Prada's originality made it the most influential fashion houses, and the brand became a status symbol in the 1990's.
In 1992, the high fashion brand Miu Miu, named after Miuccia's nickname, launched. It was targeted to young consumers such as celebrities. By 1993 Prada was awarded the Council Of Fashion Designers Of America award for accessories.
